Oh how I love making a difference in senior’s lives each day. It warms my heart when I walk in the room and see their smiles and excitement as they say ” here she is”, and when class is over seeing contentment on their faces for their accomplishment. Expressions of gratitude and claps build my self-esteem. You too can have this experience as you learn my program that has been compiled in my Teaching Resource Manual.
I’ve been teaching Sit and Dance with Becky for almost 15 years and have seen the benefits of music, dance,and exercise in the stability of a chair. It benefits so many aspects of senior fitness. I see a difference in their strength,agility and coordination,as well as improving their reaction time, as they keep up with the rhythm and tempo of the music. I know it benefits their brain power as we do movements across the midline of the body. Then there is the fact they are stimulating their brains by remembering, the past with the familiar music and lyrics which they sing at the sametime. Finally the fact they are focusing on following me as we do several parts of the body at once. The fun part is doing dance movements in the chair. It brings back memories of dancing with their sweethearts. It truly is a joy!!
